After watching Chelsea romp home with a 5-0 win Felipe Scolari was obviously pleased with his side's triumph but there was one man's performance that stood out.
'Joe Cole played, for me, the best game,' explained the Brazilian.
'He helped when we did not have the ball and tried to build something for us when we did have the ball.
'It is very good for us because he is always trying to win the ball, sometimes wide, sometimes in the midfield. This is what I want from my players in every position - not to stay in the same position all the time, because if they stay in the same position then they are easy to mark.'
Nicolas Anelka scored his first competitive hat-trick in English football for five years, building on the four goals he netted against Milan during pre-season.
Scolari believes that if the Frenchman is given the opportunity, he will always score goals.
'He has played more than the other season and he has more confidence now.
'He is a player who tries his best every game, and some games they give more chances for him to make goals, like today.'
There was another outstanding performance from vice-captain Frank Lampard, who headed his way onto the scoresheet, netting his 100th Premier League goal.
'If he plays more games maybe he will be arriving at 150 in the league,' anticipates Scolari.
'In every game he gets one or two goals and for a midfielder it is fantastic.
'If we need to think about who is the best in the world, Frank Lampard is one in this position, not any other player, for sure.'
Sunderland manager Roy Keane was graceful in defeat, and understood that Chelsea's performance was simply unbeatable.
'There is no shame is losing to a top team like that,' said Keane.
'I never had a problem in my career with praising the opposition and I am happy to do that today.
'They've got the eye of the tiger back and with a new manager coming in and with all that coming together, they're my favourites to win the league.
'I said it would be Manchester United last year, and I was right, but it's difficult to win it three years in a row, and I think that gives Chelsea the edge.'
After 36 minutes and two goals in today's game, Ashley Cole limped off the field to be replaced by Wayne Bridge, and with a mid-week game against Roma, it now looks as though Bridge will be starting on Tuesday evening.
'We will know more tomorrow, but I feel Ashley will not go to Roma.
'He feels something but I don't know what the diagnosis is, whether it is one week or two weeks [out].
'It looks like it is his calf but tomorrow we will make a scan and we will know for sure.'
While one player seems set to sit out our next fixture, one more returned as Didier Drogba made a second half appearance.
With the Ivorian featuring in today's win, there is one question on everybody's lips for Tuesday's game against Roma. Starting line-up - Anelka or Drobga?
'My big decision against Roma is to start Anelka,' clarified Scolari.
'He is in good condition now so I will play him.'
