CANOVILLE BOOK SIGNING

Paul Canoville will be taking part in a signing session of his autobiography Black and Blue in the Megastore at the end of this month.

The former winger will be on hand to meet fans after hosting his Past Player Tour around Stamford Bridge on Saturday 31 October between 4-5pm.

Black and Blue, the remarkable story of Canoville's struggle to make it is a professional footballer in the face of racism, has been long-listed for the William Hill Sports Book of the Year 2008.

Canoville, who will be leading the teams out as Chelsea host Liverpool on Sunday, made his first team debut in 1982, and in a relatively short but historic career at the club, went on to avoid relegation to the Third Division and gain promotion back to top-flight football before leaving for Reading in 1986.

But Chelsea's first black player has returned into the Chelsea fold in recent years and now works closely with the club's education department, and was most recently involved in a Reading Stars extensions project in a local prison and a Show Racism the Red Card event with school children to coincide with Black History Month.

And on Saturday 31 October he will once again walk out of the tunnel at the Bridge to the sound of cheers, but this time he will be followed by any fans on the Past Player Tour.

There are still a few places left on the tour, so if you want to hear Canoville regale you with tales from his days at Stamford Bridge, as well as offering a player's insight into the world famous ground, then call 0871 984 1955. For further information on Stadium Tours click here.

Anyone hoping to attend the Megastore signing is advised to arrive early to avoid disappointment and should also be aware that due to big demand, signatures will be limited to one per person. We cannot guarantee everyone will meet the player.
