TEAM NEWS: CHELSEA V ROMA

Ricardo Carvalho returns to the side for the first time in a month, Petr Cech is back and Deco starts.

The Portuguese pair come in for Alex and Juliano Belletti but otherwise, the outfielders are the ones that started at Middlesbrough.

Youth is represented on the bench in the shape of winger Miroslav Stoch and striker Franco Di Santo.

Francesco Totti will play up front for Roma, Mirko Vucinic making way for the captain by moving to the left of a front three.

Simone Perrotta has been ill so is only on the bench with Brazilian Rodrigo Taddei coming in. Former Chelsea loanee Christian Panucci is in central defence.

Chelsea will line-up in a 4-1-4-1 formation as follows:
