Chelsea Football Club today launches a dedicated website for our growing online community of junior fans to run alongside the hugely popular Bridge Kids magazine.
The Bridge Kids site, which is available as an online window of the club's official Chelseafc.com website, is seen as the most highly developed, cutting edge and interactive offering from any Premier League club dedicated to the kids' market.
The site is free to access but requires parental approval and consent to ensure high levels of security are in place. Once registration is complete, the site allows kids the opportunity to collect and save digital content.
The new website is set-up in the guise of a sticker album, which allows young Blues to collect player cards and stick them in the correct places until they have the whole team.
And there are education based games and skill videos, compiled by our very own academy coaches, which include passing, heading, dribbling and shooting tips.
Every piece of information on the site is in the form of digital content cards, allowing users to save changes they make to their personal album.
Once you have become a member, you can compile your team in the player pages, including past legends, and slowly build up your skills by watching the videos. You can also play games and find out all the latest news on the club and players.
There's also a fanzone, where young Blues can write letters and upload pictures for fellow fans to see and read.
This interactive function is the most advanced feature currently on offer to young supporters of any Premier League club.
Stamford the Lion met several children at today's launch of the Bridge Kids website, and nine-year-old Martel said this about chelseafc.com's new addition: 'I think it is good for little kids because of the education, if they didn't know anything about Chelsea they could easily find out.'
While 11-year-old Andy added: 'I like the way the structure is built and it is inside Chelseafc.com instead of a separate website, so it saves you time. And I really like the way they put the graphics and pictures together .'
Casimir Knight, managing director of Chelsea Digital Media, says:
'The club's digital offering has grown significantly over the past 12 months and so it was a natural progression for this innovative approach to be extended to our junior fans.
'The Bridge Kids website will provide fans a unique opportunity to engage with the club and also tailor the content they view on a daily basis. The videos feature will also provide a unique way for our young fans to learn from the experts and improve their game.'
The website, developed with John Brown Media who also produce the revamped Bridge Kids magazine, becomes the fourth digital media offering to be launched over the past 12 months - following on from a dedicated US website which was unveiled in November 2007, the pioneering interactive video service Chelsea Plus launched in December 2007 and the revamped official Chelseafc.com site which went live in July 2008.
Chelsea also became the first sports organisation in the world to offer its official match day programmes and magazine online in August this year.
