Frank Lampard believes the latest Chelsea v Liverpool clash, coming as it does with both sides unbeaten and at the top of the table, has the potential to stand out from other encounters over the past four seasons.
Although Chelsea can claim dominance over the Merseysiders at Stamford Bridge during that time, with not a single defeat and goals conceded in only one of our nine home games since Rafael Benitez took over, the matches here have often been tight affairs with tactics winning out over improvisation and few goals shared.
However Liverpool come with confidence born from their frequent late fight-backs in recent games while the Chelsea mood is sky high after two awe-inspiring league wins followed by another victory in Europe.
'It is always hard to call big games between top teams, they sometimes cancel each other out because the level is so high,' Lampard says when asked to forecast how Sunday's match will pan out.
'I'd like to think it will be an enjoyable game and if we go into it with the same attitude we have shown in recent games, and Liverpool also go in with their same attitude, you would expect a good game.
'Our confidence is high,' he confirms.
'It is the sort of football I have always wanted to play. The first year under [José] Mourinho, we were fantastic. I think it gets taken for granted how good we were that year.
'That was something very special and there is a similar feeling now even though we may be playing a different type of football.
'The full-backs are attacking more and John Mikel Obi is playing out of his skin at the moment, filling in almost as a centre-half at times and ahead of him, teams are struggling to handle our movement.'
Lampard's view is that the belief in the side drives them to want to score more goals when ahead but is quick to insist that if you get your nose in front against a side such as Liverpool, you must maintain tactical discipline.
'We have always been good at that and we mustn't lose sight of it,' he says.
'Rafa Benitez is a great tactician, proven in European football where lot of success has been built on going away and keeping tight.
'[In the past] they've come to ours a little bit with that attitude but knowing they have the quality to beat us as well. They have ability in players like Gerrard, Robbie Keane if he plays, Riera who looks quality on the left wing, to get a result. They are a good outfit and they have stepped up this year to get more consistent results.'
Sunday's game could be described as the irresistible force meets the immovable object with Liverpool having scored six of their 13 league goals in the last 10 minutes of games and Chelsea yet to concede in the second half.
Lampard thinks Sunday's opposition could find their title challenge suffer if they continue to concede the first goal.
'Sometimes you come back and win because you are resilient and sometimes you get lucky. When I am in these sort of situations, I tend to think you can't keep getting lucky and I think Steven Gerrard said something similar in the last couple of days. You can't keep giving yourself hills to climb.
'Sunday is the sort of big game you don't want to go behind in,' he warns.
Frank Lampard gave this preview to Sunday's match at the launch of Chelsea' Perfect 10, the newly published book by Neil Barnett containing exclusive interviews with some the club's all-time greats, providing an insight into the last 50 years of Chelsea Football Club.
